Via Cesio Sabino, 34
Antica Osteria Sarsina is a rustic tavern situated on the street Via Cesio Sabino. The restaurant is run by Luca Tassinari and Claudia Comandini and has been open for four years now. Many black and white photographs cover the walls, with film stars and jazz musicians. Music played by black Americans is one of Luca’s favorite passions, as well as photography. Whereas Claudia is the one who delights the customer’s palates, a real local “DOC”. You will be able to try traditional pasta prepared by the house, such as tagliatelle, strozzapreti and cappelletti, served with hare ragu and other sauces based on truffles and porcini mushrooms. The “polifemi” are quite curious, a cheese filled pasta recalling large cappelletti, in the shape of an eye. Roasted rabbit and lamb are served for second course, and depending on availability, sometimes you can order chicken. Beans with porcini mushrooms is an interesting side dish. For dessert, Luca and Claudia prepare their own sweets, including mascarpone, fruit tarts, semifreddo and trifle. The tavern offers approximately ninety wines, mainly Italian. The tavern is known for its custom of serving absinthe after the meal as a digestif. There are six or seven varieties of absinthe on the wine list, a liqueur particularly appreciated by the French Bohemians at the end of the nineteenth century. You will also find about ten different kinds of Grappa and five labels of rum. |
